Horse Riding can be booked a day in advance, if weather permits.

Types of rides:

1. Leading on a horse (inexperienced riders). Times: From 14:00 for 1 hour.

2. Cattle Herd Riding – Ride out with the cattle herders (experienced riders only). Times: From 8:00 am.

Riding costs:

R250 per person for 1 hour (or part thereof), R200 per person per hour (or part thereof) thereafter.

Maximum weight limit of 100kg per person.

Our kids playpark right in front of our Deli provides opportunity for parents to enjoy lunch or refreshments outside whilst watching their children play.

We have the options of Carp, Bass and Trout. Fishing rods for carp and trout are for hire.  

Carp fishing: Fishing is on the guesthouse premises and easily accessible.

Bass: Walking distance: ± 2.5 km to the dam. Driving is 4.5 km.

Trout: ±1,5 walking distance.  Driving is 5 km 4×4, not easily accessible.

We have a “Catch and Release” policy for the Trout fishing and charge R100 a day.

A lovely relaxing experience and a real treat for the children.

We have a pool - and table tennis table available, as well as boardgames, books and card games.

Enjoy our outside hot tub next to our dam. The Tub is fire-heated and is large enough for four to five people. Please book a day in advance for this experience.

The Swartberg area is rich in Wetland with a few rare bird species not found elsewhere. We boast with any of the Cranes, the Cape Vulture, Secretary bird, Denham’s Bustard, Southern Bald Ibis, Pale-crowned Cisticola, Yellow-breasted Pipit, Eastern Longbilled Lark, Baillon’s Crake ,African Snipe and any of the flufftails. Some  bird of prey are making nests amongst our trees and some of the waterbirds can be spotted from the rooms looking toward the dams.

Experience our unique pool/climbing wall/ rope climbing pool in our silo.

A short mini tractor ride is available upon request for the little ones, free of charge.

Night ride: Experience the remarkable night life Kwazulu – Natal has to offer. Porcupine, Aardvark, Cape Genet, Black-backed Jackal, Caracal, Serval, Spotted Eagle Owl as well as the Common and Mountain Reedbuck are just some of the species we will encounter at night. Costs for the standard ride: R330pp (min 4 people), children under 12 years R140pp. Toddlers under 2 years, free of charge. For a smaller group, a base rate of R1320 will apply.
